Celebration of Harry Potter: Expo
The Expo for this year’s Celebration of Harry Potter was huge! In fact, it was so much larger than last year’s that it had to be put into two separate sound stages.
Soundstage 31 housed the Harry Potter Studio Tour London, Scholastic, Harry Potter Global Exhibition, and MinaLima exhibits.
The Harry Potter Studio Tour London held an amazing surprise! As some of you may have saw, their social media outlets were going crazy with the hashtag #followthespiders. Well, if you followed the spiders that were outside of the expo into their exhibit you found yourself facing the biggest spider of them all- Aragog!
*if you have a fear of spiders, please do not watch the following video*
Also in the same soundstage returned Scholastic with their muggle wall where you could write what Harry Potter means to you. MinaLima also made a return to meet excited visitors and to showcase some of their designed props. New for this year, MinaLima brought along some Fantastic Beasts props! The Harry Potter Global Exhibition brought their quidditch gear and backdrop for photos as well as hoops to throw quaffles through!
As an extra, Soundstage 31 had 4 Fantastic Beasts costumes on display!
Soundstage 22 housed Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, Lego Dimensions, Pottermore, Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment, and Warner Bros Studio Tour London.
A lot of exciting things happened here! You could play the new Hermione character for the Lego Dimensions Harry Potter pack and check out Lego built Harry, Ron, and Hermione at their exhibit. Pottermore had a trivia contest via Audible recall for some fabulous prizes.
Also at Soundstage 22 was Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, where you could get a special sneak peek at photos from the play and have a look at Albus’ and Scorpius’ actual wands! Harry Potter Studio Tour London was printing photos for a giant, beautiful mosaic that they put together of the Hogwarts castle. Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment released a virtual reality experience through Newt Scamander’s briefcase!
In addition to all of the wonderful exhibits, petrified Hermione made an appearance at Soundstage 22.
Celebration of Harry Potter: Talent
Attending this year’s Celebration of Harry Potter was Warwick Davis, Matthew Lewis, Jason Isaacs, and Tom Felton.
The following are quotes from some attendees of the Celebration of Harry Potter:
It was like attending a family reunion. I loved hearing their stories and memories.
Much more energetic, fun and out going. Loved how they seemed to really enjoy themselves and pick at each other having a good time, sharing memories. All around seemed they, as well as the audience, had a much better time.
Warwick was the best!
Even though the talent was short one member from prior years, the talent was nothing short of crowd-pleasing and entertaining.
Celebration of Harry Potter: Announcements
Each year, exciting news is revealed during the Celebration weekend, and this year was no exception. In a pre-recorded video segment, Eddie Redmayne revealed he would lend his voice to the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ audio book.
The ‘Fantastic Beasts’ announcements didn’t stop there. Also shared was a deleted scene from the movie in which the Ilvermorny school song is sung by sisters Tina and Queenie. Watch below:
If you’ve been following Warner Brothers social media, you’ll have undoubtedly seen their mysterious hashtag #followthespiders . Along with the enormous Aragog exhibit at the Expo, they announced that the Forbidden Forest would become a part of the Warner Brothers Studio Tour in Leavesden for the first time! This expansion will be a permanent part of the tour and will be open to guests starting March 31st.
On a more personal note, and possibly the most important information revealed during the Celebration, after being asked by a fan, Tom Felton confirmed he is single! Aww yeah!
Celebration of Harry Potter: Cosplay
