Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Movie Release
‘Fantastic Beasts’ official release is today all across the world, but many theaters had advanced showings yesterday to the delight of eager fans. We, of course, were some of those fans. Although there wasn’t as large of a crowd as we had initially anticipated, the Harry Potter fandom is a passionate group. Many moviegoers were wearing Harry Potter apparel and some wore their house robes. A few diehards showed up hours before to wait in line to be one of the first in their area to see the movie.
‘Cursed Child’ and Other Harry Potter Alum Win Top Awards
In our last edition of Wizarding Week in Review we told you about ‘Cursed Child’ and numerous Harry Potter actors had been nominated for multiple London Evening Standard Awards including Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Play. The awards ceremony was held on Sunday, November 13th in the Old Vic theatre in London. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child won best play and Harry Potter alum Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort) took home the award for Best Actor for his performances in The Master Builder and Richard III.
Kennenth Branagh (Gilderoy Lockhart) was preseted with The Lebedev Award his outstanding achievements for his plays at the Garrick, many of them he both directed and starred in.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Transformed for the Christmas Season
Universal Studios Japan is introducing a special Christmas experience for parkgoers. Starting today, Hogsmeade will feature a large interactive Christmas tree inspired by the films. Wizards and witches are able to cast spells with their interactive wands to brighten the tree and make ornaments move. The village of Hogsmeade will also join in the festivities with Christmas ornaments decorating many of the shops.
