‘Cursed Child‘ Coming to New York Theatre

Last week it was a rumor, but as of December 1st it’s a fact. Starting in the Spring of 2018, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will open in New York. Play producers have been scouting suitable locations to bring the award-winning play to Broadway since September before finally choosing the Lyric Theatre. The theatre will undergo an extensive remodel to bring the latest story to of the Boy Who Lived to life.

‘Cursed Child’ and Harry Potter Actors Nominated for WhatsOnStage Awards

After winning Best Play at the London Evening Standard Awards, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has been nominated again in the same category by the 2017 WhatsOnStage Awards. In total, the play has received 11 nominations including Best Play and Best New Play. ‘Harry Potter’ alums Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort), Kenneth Branagh (Gilderoy Lockhart), Helen McCroy (Narcissa Malfoy) also received nominations.

Newcomers to the franchise, Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger-Cursed Child), Poppy Miller (Ginny Weasley-Cursed Child), Jamie Parker (Harry Potter-Cursed Child), Anthony Boyle (Scorpious Malfoy-Cursed Child), Paul Thornley (Ron Weasley-Cursed Child) were also nominated for their performances.

House of MinaLima Adds ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Artwork

Graphic designers Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima are the geniuses behind the graphic art of all eight ‘Harry Potter’ films and Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. To coincide with the release of ‘Fantastic Beasts’, the House of MinaLima opened a new exhibit showcasing the graphic art from the film. The exhibit features newspaper pages from The New York Ghost (the American wizard newspaper), Wanted posters, Broadway theatre advertisements and more. 

The exhibit house is located on Greek Street in Soho, London and and open to the public; admission is free.

Barnes & Noble Hosts Harry Potter Magical Holiday Ball

On December 9th Barnes & Noble stores across the US will host its first Harry Potter Magical Holiday Ball. The ball includes craft making, charades, trivia, coloring stations, a photo op booth and more. Attendees are encouraged to dress up in their holiday attire or as their favorite characters. Some stores will be offering free samples of holiday drinks and treats.
