This past Friday was St. Patrick’s Day and I wanted to try my hand at making a green potion for the occasion! The end result was this polyjuice potion, which I promise doesn’t have the power to turn you into a cat. Although, now that I come to think about it, turning into a cat sounds totally badass.
Anyways, back to the brewing the polyjuice potion! 🙂 This would make a great addition to any Harry Potter party, as you can make it alcoholic or non-alcoholic. There are 3 main ingredients and it takes all of 5 minutes to make!
I really liked the polyjuice potion because it was just the right amount of sweetness. It wasn’t overpowering at all, and I’m not typically a drinker of sugary beverages.
The polyjuice potion is super simple- just mix lime sherbet, frozen lemonade, and lemon lime soda into a large punch bowl. If you want to make the polyjuice potion into an adult beverage, add your choice of alcohol. I used vodka, which I’d recommend because the bitterness of the vodka was cancelled out by the sweetness of sherbet and frozen lemonade. It was a bit dangerous because you could hardly taste it!
Side note: You’ll see in my video that I have 2 bottles of lemon lime soda for the polyjuice potion. I did this because I was unsure at first of how much lemon lime soda I would need to overpower the vodka. 1 bottle ended up doing the job just fine.
- ½ gallon lime sherbert
- 2 liters of lemon lime soda
- 1 12 oz can frozen lemonade
- Optional: 750ml vodka
- Combine all of the ingredients in a large punch bowl
- To gain full flavor, allow the sherbet to melt for about minutes
